Prix d’excellence de l’ADESAQ

Presentation

The Association des doyennes et des doyens des études supérieures au Québec, ADESAQ, and the Fonds de recherche du Québec organize a competition which will recognize the doctoral thesis that has made significant and original contributions to its academic field in the preceding year.

• The « Fonds de recherche du Québec - Société Culture » offers a 2500$ prize for the best thesis relating to the field of humanities, social sciences and fine arts.
• The « Fonds de recherche du Québec - Nature et Technologies » offers a 2500$ prize for the best thesis relating to the field of natural sciences and engineering.
• The « Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé» offers a 2500$ prize for the best thesis relating to the field of health sciences.

Eligibility

The candidates must have completed all doctoral program requirements.

The final acceptance of the thesis must have taken place between January 1^st and December 31^st 2024.

Member institutions may submit a maximum of three nominations (one per category).

Selection Criteria

The candidates will be evaluated on the basis of the following criteria:

• Originality
• Quality
• Impact on the discipline
• Potential contribution to the development of society

Equal weight is given to each of the four criteria.

Application

Each application must include:

1. The application form
2. A complete and updated curriculum vitae
3. An abstract of the thesis in lay terms (maximum 350 words)
4. A letter from the Head of the department or program, supporting the candidacy (3 pages maximum) with reference to each of the four criteria: originality, quality, impact on the discipline, potential contribution to the development of society
5. A copy of the external reviewer’s report of the thesis (and of the defense, if applicable)
6. A presentation of the external reviewer of maximum 20 lines (including name and affiliation) and the reasons why this person was chosen to evaluate the thesis.

The deadline for universities to submit candidates is May 2, 2025 to:
